This last Saturday, Nov. 8th, our Captain of 14 years retired from his position. Captain Robert Jornlin, who was instrumental in bringing the USS LST 325 back from Crete Greece in 2001, has retired from the Board of Directors. Captain Jornlin has also retired as Captain during the Change of Command Ceremony on the 8th. Captain Jornlin's legacy will now be the responsibility of Captain Robert Kubota. Captain Kubota has been a volunteer pilot during our river cruises and helps everywhere he can on ship.

This award is named in honor of one of the founders of the Association, and former director of the cruiser USS Olympia, "Cappy" Knight. It is the highest award the Association can bestow. It is given to individuals or organizations who have contributed in a major way, usually over a considerable length of time, to the preservation and exhibition of historic naval ships, and to the goals and work of the Association.

We are very fortunate to have such dedicated volunteers that are willing to go above and beyond for this ship. Captain Jornlin is passing on his will to preserve this ship and share her history, this nation's history, to one such volunteer. Thank you Captain Jornlin for your service and dedication, and thank you Captain Kubota for your service and dedication in the coming years.
