Group looking for local Rosies
By The Ottawa Herald Staff 9/20/2012
A historical group is calling for women to come forward — again.
The American Rosie the Riveter Association is attempting to locate women in Ottawa and the surrounding area who worked on the home front during World War II. The association is working to compile a list of such women so it can tell the women’s stories about their World War II experiences. The stories will be placed in the association’s archives.
Women who worked during World War II, or their descendants who are interested in being part of this project or would like more information can call 1-888-557-6743, email americanrosietheriveter2@yahoo.com or correspond by mail at P.O. Box 188, Kimberly AL 35091.
The American Rosie the Riveter Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and preserving the history and legacy of working women during World War II. The organization was founded in 1998 by Dr. Frances Carter in Birmingham, Ala., and now has more than 4,000 members nationwide.
