Yes, we are still here in Sunny South Texas. A lot of work is being done. Bow Doors are being rebuilt, and so nice they look with new metal. The beak has been cut into (the top port side). Rust and water removed and it looks good in there! Bottom holes being rebuilt and unlike before they are going way back and up. Replacing bulkheads two feet up and coming back down with new bulkheads and deck.
Screws went to the propeller shop today, New cutless bearings are being looked for. Scullery will be finished tomorrow. Emergency Fire Pump room starting to look better than when it was new. Tank deck holes all fixed. We found that the rudder posts have packing in them! We are going to replace the packing with new and see if that does not take out the small wobble in the port one. If so we will replace packing in stbd one also. Almost 16 years on an LST and never new they had packing in the rudder posts! Goes to show you continue to learn. CG aboard looking at the repairs, also wanted our sailing plan for the return trip. Bill Kaupas had it put together so I emailed it to them. Crew is going out tomorrow night and giving our cook Jim a night off. They are all looking forward to the big game Sunday. Weather here has been great in the mid to high 60's. Wife says more snow forcast for this coming week -- some may be significant! It is also C_O_L_D up in IL. Capt. Bob
