Ad Mumford

In 2001 Ad Mumford starting working in the Engine Room.  Ad had served during WWII first in the Coast Guard and then aboard an LST.  He retired as our Chief Engineer in 2014 but was still heavily involved when he could be.

Ad passed away in April, 2016.  His family invited us to have a Memorial Service on ship to honor his memory.

Perry Ballinger hosted the service and Harry Zillion assisted.

John Hatton spoke of Ad's contribution to the ship.

David Marcmann, Ad's nephew, spoke of his times with Ad.

Ad's daughter-in-law thanked Ad and the family for welcoming her into their family.

Glen Mumford spoke of his father's love and patience.

Captain Robert Jornlin spoke of Ad's dedication.

The American Flag presented to Glen Mumford on behalf of the USS LST Ship Memorial.

James 'Sarge' Goodall spoke to the family about Ad's contribution

Sarge's painting of one of the main engines with Ad monitoring the gauges for scale.

Ad was such an important part of the ship that we honored his work with a plaque.

We gathered on the Main Deck for the wreath ceremony.

A reception followed with everyone sharing stories about Ad.
